“You must spend several hours in front of the mirror every morning?”
As a co-founder of a skincare brand, “What products do you use?”, “How can I get like yours?” and “You have to spend hours in front of the mirror every morning?” are some of the questions I get asked most often. I am flattered, of course, but it also reinforces for me that Yrolí has its raison d’être and that we still have a big task ahead of us.
The short answer is that I prioritize, and my priorities center around a healthy lifestyle. That doesn’t include setting my alarm every morning to go through a whole regimen of steps and products. That doesn’t make me feel healthy, and it doesn’t support healthy skin. My morning skincare routine has been the same for years – Eye Serum and Face Oil.

My morning skincare routineI wash my face with cold water, apply Eye Serum on the delicate skin around my eyes and finish with Face Oil , which I massage into my face and neck. The oil’s active ingredients help support healthy skin and keep it well-hydrated all day long. If I have time, I give myself a facial massage. It stimulates blood circulation and leaves me with a wonderful feeling of well-being. I wear discreet make-up all day long, and Face Oil keeps it in place beautifully. That’s my morning skincare routine – simple and super effective. Buy Yrolí's morning routine here . |
A good start to the day is more than what I put on my skin
Getting a good start to the day is about more than what I put on my skin. Of course, it is important that I take care of my skin and that the products I use have a visible effect. However, it is also important that I get my body moving. It can be a long walk with my dog or a run in the forest. Movement is important, and so is the fresh air. I often listen to audiobooks while I do this, as it keeps my mind engaged, but I can also combine it with a phone call with my children or my friends, which keeps me socially connected. As part of my morning routine, it is also important for me to have a nutritious breakfast and drink plenty of water – I have a penchant for sparkling water!
I was once that consumer who was deceivedAs consumers, we buy into time-consuming routines with countless products. Of course we do, because we don't have a fair chance of navigating the skincare industry. We all chase beautiful skin and that extra glow. As humans, we are loyal enough to trust that skincare brands deliver eternal youth, because that is the illusion they sell us. The many layers and products are commercially motivated and are not driven by a desire to give the consumer healthy skin, but simply more products in the bathroom that create a sense of guilt. Skincare has become too complicated. Our environment and the health of our skin pay the price. Yrolí is our answer to the jungle of complicated routines, quick fixes, outdated stereotypes, false promises and a market characterized by massive overconsumption. I founded Yrolí together with Jette Nørgaard Haulrig because our bathrooms were full of products that had no effect. Either because they expired unused, but also because they were full of harmful synthetic substances and empty promises. Yrolí is therefore not “just” another skincare brand that follows the same commercial patterns as the rest of the skincare industry. If we were, it would go against our very fundamental values and be contradictory. We have been those consumers ourselves who have been deceived. |

A healthy everyday life
We are at the intersection of the skincare and health industries. With Yrolí, we want to make everyday life simpler, healthier and more conscious. Yrolí was created to promote skin health. To achieve healthy skin, you need to use few layers of skincare, preferably just one layer. Our formulations are developed to respect the skin's microbiome, and the skincare routines we recommend are designed to be simple, effective and manageable.
However, healthy skin must be understood on several levels. Yes, we have the products that support healthy skin, but you cannot view skin and skincare in isolation. There are also other factors that affect the health of the skin, for example sleep and diet. A balanced everyday life and your mental health also contribute to healthy skin. It is all connected. That is why I prioritize my health. I do my best to stay in balance, as I will thus give my body better conditions, which will also have an effect on my skin. Yrolí's products further support my skin’s balance.
So I have to disappoint those who want to hear the secret recipe. There is none. The honest answer is that you have to take care of yourself, and that includes taking care of your skin. It may sound like a cliché, but it's the truth. Your sleep is important. Your diet is important. Your circulation is important. Your social life is important. Your skincare is important.
