African fruits

Two of our signature ingredients are two very distinct African seed oils; baobab and marula. Seed oils from both baobab and marula have been used in African traditions for centuries for their health-promoting and skincare properties.
Baobab and marula trees originate from native African ecosystems, where they have long been part of rich cultural traditions.
Baobab oil
Baobab oil has clinically documented effects and very special properties that make it suitable for all skincare products. Baobab oil is anti-inflammatory and can reduce redness, itching and dryness. The oil quickly penetrates the epidermis, which is the uppermost layer of the skin, where its active ingredients work and make the skin extremely soft and radiant.
Baobab oil has a particularly high vitamin content:
-
Vitamin A actively supports cell renewal and regeneration.
-
Vitamins B, C and E are antioxidants that strengthen the skin and smooth out fine lines and pigmentation changes, stimulate the formation of collagen and increase cell renewal, and contribute to the protection of skin cells damaged by ultraviolet light, environmental pollutants and other elements that generate harmful free radicals in the cells.
-
Vitamin D stimulates skin cell metabolism and growth, helping to reduce wrinkles and stimulate collagen production.
The high content of essential fatty acids helps maintain and protect skin cell membranes and preserves skin elasticity by restoring the skin's moisture balance, so wrinkles and fine lines become less visible.
We use unrefined baobab oil to preserve all its active ingredients. It is gently purified at a temperature below 45 degrees and without the use of chemical solvents. The oil has a sediment value of 16 degrees.
"Tree of life"
Baobab is probably the best known tree in Africa and is called the “Tree of Life”. Baobab belongs to its own family, Bombacaceae. Baobab trees grow in East and West Africa. Some trees are believed to be as much as 6,000 years old, and it is not uncommon to find trees that are around 2-3,000 years old. The trees reach heights of 5 to 30 meters and can reach a diameter of 7-11 meters. Baobab oil is extracted from the seeds of the fruit of the Baobab tree.

Marula oil
Marula oil is a fantastic oil with unique properties that make it suitable for all skin care products. Marula oil's small molecules allow it to penetrate quickly and deeply into the upper layer of the dermis, where the large amount of active ingredients hydrates and enriches the skin. The oil acts as a carrier oil that draws nutrients, also from other ingredients, deep into the skin. Marula oil is recommended to soothe and care for sensitive skin and to reduce redness and inflammation.
-
Has a naturally high level of stearic acid, which seals in moisture in the skin by forming a natural seal over it.
-
High in antioxidants, including tocopherols (vitamin E), flavanols, condensed tannins and catechins (similar to those found in green tea), which protect the skin from free radicals.
-
Is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids that help restore the skin's barrier, resulting in increased hydration, elasticity, smoothness and suppleness of the skin.
Seeds from African savannah tree
Marula oil is extracted from the seeds of the fruit of the African savannah tree, Sclerocarya Birrea. Like the baobab tree, it is an ancient tree filled with history, culture and centuries of rich tribal traditions. The tree can grow up to 20 meters tall and is found in low altitudes and open forest areas. The ripe fruit of the marula tree is yellow to light orange in color and contains about 8 times the amount of vitamin C found in an orange. Inside the fruit are hard-shelled seeds that contain two to three kernels, from which the oil is extracted.
