Responsibility is the keyword for Yrolí Skincare, and it is also essential to a more sustainable future. In our view, being responsible means that every choice counts, as the degree of responsibility can be measured by the sum of our choices - and non-choices. For us, it is not enough to just talk about how important it is to create a healthier planet for our children, while we pour products into packaging that undermines that goal. That is why we are not afraid to be the ones who lead the way and commit ourselves to the utmost, as we know that our ambitions, products and packaging can live up to it.

We have a 360-degree focus on skincare because everything is connected. From the ingredients being harvested, transported, produced, packaged and distributed to reaching your bathroom shelf, there are many steps in the chain. And not one of them should be compromised if it's up to us. You can read more about what that means in concrete terms here. Blue Beauty

Blue beauty is an environmental approach to beauty that also aims to protect our oceans and the ecosystems that depend on them. The concept is based on the idea that we should care for the ocean and avoid harmful chemicals, pollution and unnecessary resource consumption in our beauty routines.

Blue beauty encourages a more sustainable approach to beauty that respects the environment, including our marine environment and its inhabitants. This includes choosing products that are manufactured in an environmentally friendly manner and do not contain harmful chemicals that can pollute the ocean and harm its life.

New standards in green skincare

We believe it is time to think differently without compromising on effect. We therefore see ourselves as part of the Blue Beauty movement. It is a mindset that goes beyond anything we have previously seen within both clean and green beauty.

Blue Beauty focuses on sustainable and ocean-safe ingredients as well as recycled, recyclable or refillable packaging. Blue Beauty also means quality products that last and have multiple uses, so that we each use fewer products and leave less cosmetic waste.

Living up to Blue Beauty requires sharp choices and serious considerations within very different aspects of the product cycle. Therefore, we have made a number of uncompromising choices in order to live up to Blue Beauty's criteria within:

At Yrolí Skincare, we do what we say. And we mean what we do. Otherwise, it will just be another long series of well-meaning words, which without action will make no difference to your skin or to the green transition. Through our choices, we want to prove that it is actually possible to produce responsible skincare with a great effect on the skin and a minimal footprint on the environment.

Ingredients

The selection must make sense.

When formulating our products, we choose wild harvest, organic and natural ingredients. We are committed to avoiding ingredients from vulnerable habitats. And we only choose synthetics when it is more ethical, environmentally friendly or safe. We seek to avoid any ingredient that accumulates in the environment or does not degrade. We also try to choose ingredients where we can also find social projects to support.

Ingredient sourcing is fundamental when it comes to ocean safety

Being Blue Beauty means choosing ingredients that do not disrupt the natural balance of our ecosystems. We prioritise ingredients that are readily biodegradable. For that reason, we have consciously chosen to exclude certain ingredients altogether.

Certifications

Transparency is essential to us.
To ensure traceability, credibility and high standards, our products are certified according to Ecocert COSMOS. This certification ensures clear documentation of ingredient origin, composition and organic content, giving full transparency to our customers.

Requirements to obtain certification
  • To obtain the ECOCERT COSMOS Organic label, at least 95% of the ingredients must be of natural origin.
  • In rinse-off products, at least 10% of the ingredients must be organic, and in leave-on products, at least 20% of the ingredients must be organic.
  • At least 95% of the plant oils in the product must be organic. This means that oil-based products must have a higher proportion of organic ingredients than if the formulation contains water.
  • ECOCERT COSMOS checks that the ingredients are grown responsibly and with respect for the environment. At the same time, they have a strong focus on traceability. Yrolí Skincare must therefore be able to document the journey of each ingredient and product from origin and production to the final product and its distribution. This ensures that the product meets what we promise.
  • ECOCERT COSMOS sets requirements for waste management during production.
  • On all Yrolí Skincare products you can find both the ECOCERT COSMOS seal and the proportion of natural and organic ingredients stated as percentages.

Vegan certified

All products from Yrolí Skincare are vegan certified. This means that the products do not contain animal ingredients, animal by-products or ingredients that have been tested on live animals.

AllergyCertified

Some of our products are allergy certified by AllergyCertified. This means that the products have been reviewed and all ingredients have been checked for allergenic, endocrine-disrupting and carcinogenic properties. We are continuously expanding our range with this important certification.

The Nordic Swan Ecolabel

When a product carries the Nordic Ecolabel, it means that it has been assessed against a number of criteria that cover the entire product life cycle - from production and use to disposal. These criteria include factors such as raw material consumption, energy efficiency, waste management, use of hazardous chemicals and impact on the environment and human health. The Nordic Ecolabel is a Nordic certification.

Production

Danish-produced and quality-controlled

Yrolí Skincare is produced in Denmark. We visit our production laboratory regularly, meet the people who produce our products, see our products at every stage of production and personally check the quality. We are involved in all choices made regarding ingredients, packaging and product range. Together with our chemists and pharmacists, we have the best starting point to continue developing new quality products that work.

When our manufacturer selects raw materials and suppliers, they must meet defined quality requirements and comply with the Code of Conduct. In addition, documentation such as of MSDS, specifications, composition, studies, etc. is obtained on the raw materials to ensure that they meet and comply with the set requirements. The raw material is then tested in the laboratory and undergoes stability testing for 3-6 months before production.

Packaging

All packaging is created from the earth's resources and impacts the environment when it is manufactured and eventually ends up as waste. We have chosen to use recycled packaging and to omit outer packaging for our products. If we want to take care of our environment, we must use as little packaging as possible. 

Part of the circular principle

To meet Blue Beauty principles we must use reusable and recycled materials, use minimal packaging, and generally keep beauty packaging out of our landfills and oceans.

Scientists predict that by 2050 the ocean will contain more plastic than fish! And the cosmetics industry is one of the biggest contributors to this tragic truth, creating no less than 120 billion pieces of packaging every year. Most of this excessive plastic packaging ends up in our landfills or in the oceans. It is therefore essential that we are all aware of what kind of packaging is used for the products we use.

Recycled and recyclable

Yrolí Skincare's packaging is 100% recyclable and made from recycled materials whenever possible. We take the circular principle as our starting point and choose packaging that fits within a circular system and therefore does not become waste in nature. To be Blue Beauty, we have made a number of important choices regarding the use of packaging:

  • r-PET bottles, which are 100% recycled and 100% recyclable.
  • r-PE tubes, which are 50% recycled and 100% recyclable.
  • PE tubes, which are 100% recyclable
  • Glass that is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable.
  • Our plastic packaging is from Poland, and the glass packaging is from Italy to reduce transportation as much as possible.

  • We have chosen to omit outer packaging on our products to avoid unnecessary production and transportation of packaging.

Often, when you buy a product, it has traveled by plane, truck or most often both, which results in significant CO₂ emissions into the atmosphere. To be Blue Beauty, we must limit the distance our products have to travel, and therefore it is important to produce as locally as possible. At the same time, we must work to offset transport-related CO₂ emissions. This is one of the reasons why we work with a Danish manufacturer and that our packaging is produced in Europe.

Being Blue Beauty is not just about where we are now – but about constantly improving processes, materials and choices.

No outer packaging

We have made a controversial choice by omitting outer packaging to reduce our environmental impact:

  • Reduced resource consumption : We save materials such as plastic, paper and cardboard, as well as energy and water in production.
  • Increased transport efficiency : Without external packaging, products take up less space and weigh less, leading to fewer shipments, less fuel consumption and lower emissions.
  • Less waste : By avoiding unnecessary packaging, we reduce the amount of waste that is normally generated.

Our decision to avoid outer packaging for our products is part of our dedication to minimizing our environmental footprint.

 

 

Shipping

Packed and shipped responsibly

Every choice counts. That's why our packaging materials for shipping orders from our website are chosen with responsibility in mind. All products are delivered in an FSC-certified, fully recyclable cardboard box.

We often use recycled packaging when we ship. It is an effective way to reuse packaging materials we receive.

 

Use and consumption

Less consumption makes more sense

For us, success means offering as well-thought-out a range as possible. Because the whole thinking at Yrolí Skincare is based on developing quality products, where fewer products and simple routines support healthy and beautiful skin. It is about seeing things in the big picture: Fewer products means less production, less production means less transport and so on. We have made the necessary choices to make your daily skincare routine as Blue Beauty as possible.

 

Disposal

Impact on body and environment

Being aware of disposal is both about how products affect the environment when they are discarded or washed off the skin, but also about the way we use and handle packaging. Yrolí Skincare uses easily biodegradable ingredients without polluting waterways. Our choice means that you can be confident that the products remain where they are intended: on your skin and hair - and not in nature. All packaging is 100% recyclable if you sort at source according to the material it is produced from. This is a significant contribution to the green transition.

 

Social projects

Give back to society

Being Blue Beauty is very much about taking social responsibility and giving something back. At Yrolí Skincare, we therefore consciously prioritise ingredients sourced from regions where we can support social initiatives. We are especially looking for projects that support women, but fundamentally for us it is about promoting concepts such as equality, education, social rights, fair working conditions, etc. in areas where these things are not a given, but a struggle.
