Beautiful skin is healthy skin in a happy body
Our beautician and connective tissue specialist Katja has worked with the same approach to skin for 25 years in the beauty industry - beautiful skin is healthy skin in a happy body. It was therefore with mutual enthusiasm that Yrolí and Katja's paths crossed, as we have the same holistic approach to skincare. My Skincare Philosophy Hasn't Always Been Well ReceivedI might as well be completely honest from the start. I don't use many skincare products. On the other hand, I am very picky about the quality of the products I use. After more than 25 years in the industry where it's all about selling products and preferably lots of them, it hasn't always been well received that I had a very simple skincare routine myself. But I do, and I always have. "My skin, like my nervous system, is very sensitive and perceptive. Where others have focused on fruit acids and needling, I've been obsessed with lymphatic drainage and connective tissue." - Katja |
Katja's top 3 skincare tips
1) Cleanse your skin – every night
Cleanse your skin every night, without exception. At night, your skin your skin enters its natural recovery phase, so give your skin something other than the day's leftovers of pollution and old makeup to work with. Water alone is not enough, as it's like taking a shower and washing your hair with water alone. It gets wet but not clean. Cleanse your skin!
2) Quality = effect
The range of skincare products is huge, and you can quickly end up spending a lot on skincare products with empty promises that have no effect. Don't fall for greenwashing and fancy platitudes, but instead go for products that actually do something for your skin. Can you feel the product making a difference to your skin? Has your skin become softer and healthier? You can easily buy products with delicious oils that promise protection and softness, products with hyaluronic acid that provides moisture or products with microalgae that help slow the visible signs of ageing. However, this is not a guarantee of either the quality or the quantity of the active ingredients. It's easy to write nice words on the packaging, but what does your skin say? Feel it yourself and listen to your skin.
3) Listen to your skin
Your skincare should give you healthy skin, because then your skin will automatically be beautiful. It is also crucial that you do not change products all the time. It can be stressful for your skin, your wallet and the environment. Therefore, use the products that you can feel are working and stick to them. For me, I have genuinely never had such well-hydrated skin as after I started using Yrolí. I have now been using Yrolí for 6 months, and I am amazed at how good my skin feels here and now. At the same time, I know that the long-term results will be even greater.
My best morning tip: Start the day by activating your connective tissueI wake up early every day, even on weekends, and for good reason. When I wake up at 6:30, I stay in bed to wake up properly and do a simple exercise that helps support healthy skin from the inside out. Lie on your back and lift both arms and legs up towards the ceiling. Imagine that you are a beetle that has rolled over onto its back and is therefore moving its arms and legs around in an attempt to roll over onto its stomach. By starting the day with this exercise, you start the day by “talking” to your connective tissue. You are lengthening, stretching and creating space within the body supporting healthy, radiant skin from within. Finish with a deep breath through your nose and exhale fully through an open mouth. |

My morning routine
When I get up, I start by splashing my face with cold water. A good tip is that you you shouldn’t expose your face to hot shower water, because it dries out the skin. In the morning I use Eye Serum for the fine lines around the eyes. Eye Serum is a miracle product that, in addition to having a slow-aging effect, is also designed to reduce puffiness and dark circles.
Then I apply Face Oil. Face Oil contains active ingredients that are small enough in molecular size to penetrate deep into the skin and work on hydration, elasticity and firmness. The active ingredients ensure that I face the day with well-hydrated and resilient skin. I always wear only light makeup, and the face oil helps my makeup stay in place all day.
My evening routine
In the evening I remove makeup and the day's dirt with Micellar Water. I use Eye Serum in the evening as a night serum for my eye area. I finish with Hydrate Overnight, which provides hydration and is a collagen booster that has done wonders for my skin.

A little note about Eye SerumIf you are trying Eye Serum for the first time, you may notice that the skin may appear more active in the first few days and there is increased blood flow in the applied area. This is a normal response and a sign that the product is active on the skin. |
My best evening tip: Cleanse your skin early in the evening
Cleanse your skin early in the evening and then apply your nighttime product, which in my case is the Hydrate Overnight mask. There's no reason to wait until you're about to fall asleep, because then there's a good chance you won't have the energy to do it, and will simply brush your teeth and go straight to bed.
