Your skin is not the problem, it’s how it’s being treated.
Many people find that their skincare routine doesn't really work. Their skin is still oily. Dry. Troubled. Sensitive. Even though they use what they think are the right products. Often the explanation is simple: They treat their skin based on their skin type – but what their skin responds to its condition. And when we confuse the two, we end up treating symptoms instead of supporting the skin's function.
SKIN TYPE IS NOT THE SAME AS SKIN CONDITION
Skin type describes how your skin is fundamentally made. It's the skin you were born with, broadly speaking: Dry, oily, combination or normal. Skin condition describes how your skin is feeling right now. And it's constantly changing – with seasons, hormones, stress, sleep, stages of life and the skincare we use.
Therefore, you can easily have:
- Oily skin type but dehydrated skin condition
- Dry skin type, but stressed and reactive skin condition
- Normal skin type, but unbalanced skin.
Yet many people buy skincare based on the skin type they were told they had at an early age.
WHEN WE DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THE SKIN NEEDS
A classic example: “My skin is oily, so it needs to be dried out.” In practice, this often means:
- Frequent and thorough cleansing
- Drying products
- Attempts to “control” the skin
The result? The skin becomes stripped of its natural oils and starts to overcompensate. It produces more oil. It becomes more reactive. It becomes a vicious cycle.
Here, the solution is rarely more cleansing – but more calm, balance and respect for the skin's natural processes. That's why it often makes sense to use gentle cleansing, fewer products and, in many cases, oil – even for oily skin. Not to make it greasy. But to signal: Enough is enough. You can calm down.
THE SAME APPLIES TO DRY AND MATURE SKINFor example, with mature skin, which is often associated with dryness, but the skin condition may be stressed, sensitive or unbalanced. Here we often see:
Instead of more calm, the skin may experience:
Not because the skin needs more. But because it lacks stability. |

HEALTHY SKIN CAN DO MORE THAN WE THINK
Balanced skin is better able to regulate itself. It retains moisture better. Reacts less. Recovers faster when disturbed. When the skin is healthy, skin problems become less frequent– and easier to recover from when they occur.
Therefore, good skincare is not primarily about correcting, drying out, or pushing the skin in a certain direction. It is about supporting the skin's fundamental health.
FEWER PRODUCTS. BETTER CONDITIONS
Skin in transition rarely needs a lot of products. It needs calm, balance and consistency. Products that work with:
- Hydration
- Barrier
- Microbiome
The skin is given the opportunity to restore its own balance – instead of constantly reacting. This is where the difference happens. Not in quick fixes, but in what the skin is given the opportunity to do over time.

THE SKIN MUST BE SUPPORTED – NOT CONTROLLEDSkin type describes your skin. Skin condition tells you what your skin needs. When skincare is based on skin health rather than symptoms, the requirements change: Routines become simpler. Products should work well together. And the skin must not be overloaded in order to function properly. It requires formulations that work with the skin's own processes – not against them. And products that can be used consistently in everyday life. Not to promise quick fixes. But to give the skin better conditions. Over time. |
A SIMPLE ROUTINE BUILT ON THE SKIN'S NEEDS
When we talk about the difference between skin type and skin condition, it's about giving the skin the right conditions to function optimally.
At Yrolí, we don’t focus on treating symptoms - but with the skin's fundamental health. Our products are developed to support the skin's natural functions, such as retaining hydration, maintaining a strong and well-functioning barrier, creating a healthy microbiome, good cell renewal and strong collagen production.
That's why our routines are simple, and the products are designed to be used across skin types and life stages.
To bring this approach to life, we've combined our facial care into two full facial routines. Both kits are built around the same principles: Fewer steps, high performance and respect for the skin's own processes.

For some, it makes sense to start in the morning. For others, in the evening. Both are equally correct - it's all about where your skin is at right now. Here are our recommendations for morning routines and evening routines.
