I am Aahøj “ What has surprised me most is how closely connected I have become to my company. I am the company’s DNA - I am Aahøj. We are inextricably linked. Having my private accommodation in the hotel means that the distinction between private and work is blurred ” – Camilla Kanstrup Grothe |
#homeawayfromhome
Personal hosting is what Camilla is passionate about. Camilla loves serving her guests and wants most of all that her guests feel welcome and comfortable.
As Camilla is the sole operator, she has built a special relationship with many of the house's guests over the years. The house is a kind of second home, a #homeawayfromhome. Camilla has an in-depth knowledge of the guests' wishes and needs, and friendships are also developed.

Better building practices since 1896The house, which is located down to the river in the center of Sæby, was built in 1896 and was designed by architect Harald Nielsen. Harald Nielsen left his mark on several properties in Sæby, all in the “Bedre Byggeskik” style. The house was designed for a prosperous hardware store. After a few years, the house was sold to a new owner, who decorated it as a bathing guesthouse, and it has remained that way ever since. The property has been continuously expanded in a style that does justice to the original main house. |

Scandinavian coolness
The hotel offers nine individually decorated rooms, each with its own special expression. Large double rooms with balconies, family rooms with extra beds and regular double rooms.
With a decor characterized by Scandinavian coolness and aesthetics of both antique and modern design, you will experience a unique atmosphere in respect for the soul and history of the house. As the icing on the cake, the hotel's walls are adorned with art.
The winter garden, fireplace room and the house library are open 24 hours a day for trust-based self-service from the hotel's selection of local beers, wines, champagne, spirits and snacks. Every day Camilla offers her guests a glass of wine on the house account for wine hour in homely and relaxed surroundings.
The hotel also has a small shop where you can buy an exclusive selection of local ceramics and glass, Aiayu, Læsø Salt, locally produced spirits, art books, and selected products from Yrolí.

“Get-away-wilderness”
Outdoors, the landscaped garden and patio invite you to a summer breakfast or a glass of wine in the sun. The beautiful patio is the guests' secret "get-away-wilderness" full of birdsong and framed by greenery. Hotelpension Aahøj is in a beautiful discreet oasis surrounded by lush greenery by Sæby Å, just a few minutes' walk from the center, beach, harbor environment and Sæbygård Forest.

The famous rye breadFreshly baked long-risen morning bread and Camilla's famous rye bread are mandatory for breakfast, which is the only meal served in the house. The house's cuisine is based on the best available ingredients and Camilla buys from local growers, dairies and producers. |

Responsible Danish-produced skincare
“ I have chosen Yrolí as a partner because of the responsibility they take on as a skincare manufacturer on the market. In addition, Yrolí is a Danish brand with Danish production, which I prioritize very highly. Aesthetically and in terms of quality, Yrolí and Aahøj also proved to be a natural match. Yrolí presented me with an exclusive selection of high-quality products with a delicious scent and an aesthetic expression. I fell in love with the energy, enthusiasm and passion behind Yrolí. Beautiful, strong women. I am delighted to pamper the guests of the house with the delicious products ” – Camilla Kanstrup Grothe

A layer of skincare that matches my busy life“ Because of Yrolí, I have a routine. Yrolí’s philosophy of one layer of skincare matches my busy everyday life with very early mornings and late evenings. I cleanse my face morning and night with Micellar Water and finish with Eye Serum and Face Oil .” Do I just have to choose one?" It's hard to pick just one favorite product from Yrolí. Face Oil has to be my absolute favorite product, but I'm also very addicted to Eye Serum. With long, thick hair, Yrolí's shampoo and conditioner are also indispensable. " |
